Andrew I. Schaffer is a native of the New Haven area. He received his B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut in 1988 and his law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1994.
Mr. Schaffer worked for the New Haven Superior Court as a temporary assistant clerk and the family court case flow coordinator prior to entering the private practice of law. Mr. Schaffer has been in private practice since 1996. He has engaged in the areas of family law, juvenile law, social security disability law and real estate transactions.
Mr. Schaffer continues to focus his practice on divorce and family law litigation, including contested dissolution matters, custody and visitation issues, asset and property distribution and post judgment modification and enforcement issues. Mr. Schaffer also represents minor children in matters where a guardian ad litem and / or an attorney for a minor is needed.
Mr. Schaffer is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association as well as the New Haven County Bar Association, where he is the chairperson of the Family Law Committee. He serves as a Special Master for matrimonial action in various local Superior Courts and the Regional Family Trial Docket.
